We are an “angel” and pre-seed venture capital investor in commercial real estate technology opportunities.

We look for opportunities to invest in early stage “proptech”/”realtech” ventures that share our goal of making the commercial real estate sector more productive, environmentally sustainable and inclusive. At Kea we firmly believe that the real estate industry has substantial room to improve its operational efficiency, financial returns and individual users’ experience of commercial space – and that using technology in thoughtful and lateral-thinking ways is a catalyst for that change.

It goes without saying that we love technological innovation and its potential to transform how commercial property is managed and experienced. That being said, we are proud to consider ourselves a “founder team quality”- led firm. This reflects our prior experience that getting the right individuals working well together is the critical step. We make extensive use of leadership and executive coaching research as part of our deal sourcing and due diligence process, for example by incorporating the Enneagram framework into our team assessments.

Our target themes and sectors

We invest in teams that are building innovative software, hardware and materials solutions that will make a tangible and meaningful positive difference to the challenges faced by the commercial property sector. We focus primarily on property technology solutions that are scalable in the office (including flexible/coworking sites), hotel and retail sectors.

The themes we prioritise for our portfolio are:

  • Maximizing the opportunity and efficiency to retrofit existing real estate assets into higher quality locations

  • Delivering better productivity, user experience and sustainability performance for the office and hotels sectors

  • Applying innovative technology solutions to better preserve heritage assets for future generations
